Hello!
Until start of february everything was fine. (Except BSOD's of course) Now i have problem with speakers. I don't have sound from them. I tested in original Win7HP64bit installation, WinxPPro32bit and Ubuntu 9 64bit. Sound driver reinstallation does not help. This happened on BIOS v203. Yesterday i reinstalled BIOS 2 v207 - no change. I found one thread in this forum that one user downgraded bios to lower. But for this model there is nothing to choose from in BIOS list. With win-flash i can't make downgrade, but i believe that this will not help. Is there any other solution to this problem? Is it a warranty question? |

Yes, standart headphones and bluetooth headphones work.
Device manager does not have any problems. Attached Sound driver installation error and XP, Win7 DM sound controller. Yes, notebook plays boot sound default ROG logo sound and customized FancyStart music. Can i install new bios from: http://forum.notebookreview.com/showthread.php?t=450046 http://www.gentechpc.com/Asus/G60J207.zip ? Last edited by jurisgr; 02-07-2010 at 04:27 PM. Reason: New BIOS |

bios does not address any sound issues.
it sounds to me like all is working fine. i am can not be sure what you changed in settings to disable sound. try using system restore to restore to an earlier time? If it is not hardware defect (sounds like it is not) then you need to figure out what you may have done to disable sound output. updating bios will not help. downgrading bios is even worse. leave the bios alone and restore the bios to factory state, do not change nothing in bios

Is it normal that if I boot with Ubuntu 9 64bit DVD in live mode, i also don't have sound from speakers, but in headphones i do have sound?
I did change nothing in my configuration. Now I can't move back because i disabled system restore immediately after recovery process from Asus DVD. I installed latest drivers in Win 7 (6.0.1.6010) - no change. Does this laptop support SRS Sound? |

if you are exibiting the same exact behavior in linux it is indicative of a hardware failure. Are you sure you restored bios to factory defaults? not good in any case. this may need to be serviced.
