I've tried using your price calculator but it just keeps telling me my zip code is wrong, though your web page tells me not to enter one.

My postcode doesnt work either.

UPS expedited is currently 99$ that is 3 days transit
do not enter zip code. just login and checkout. do not pay with paypal or credit. use wire transfer even if you dont want to wire. we will convert later when it is ready to ship

I just tried searching via Google and it seems that if you buy goods online from a country outside the European Union, for instance the USA, Canada, China, Australia

You will be charged:

* Customs Duty if the amount of duty is £9 or over
* Import VAT if the value of the goods is £18 and over
* Excise Duty for some goods like alcohol and tobacco

Two quick questions -- Does this laptop come with a physical Windows 7 disk or just a recovery disk?

Also, the specs don't mention any firewire port -- is that an omission or is the eSata port replacing firewire?

Though I'm not in a way affiliated with BTO Tech, I guess I can answer your questions correctly based on user reviews I've read from those who already have the G73.

This laptop comes with an Asus Recovery DVD, not a physical Windows 7 installer.

This laptop does not come with a Firewire or e-SATA port, probably because they had to cut costs to bring this down to $1600+.

it comes with a physical disk but it is a recovery disk and can only be used on this or other asus branded systems. there is no firewire port! and no esata port either. They should have just raised the price instead of cutting costs. for an innovative company they sure make alot of idiotic mistakes.

I just placed a Pre-order tonight. Total price was $4034.19. I had ordered 16Gig of ram, with 820 CPU, dual 160 SSDs. Tonight I was reading posts in NBR forum and found a disturbing post. It states that all 3 of the i7 CPUs are limited to 8 Gig of ram and here is the supporting URL. Is this a fact or is there a work around? You will note it says dependant on memory type. This may be correct as I think the mobile i7s have the memory controller on board and not on the motherboard. Has ASUS done something with the motherboard to allow 16Gigs? Can you verify this with ASUS? Obviously if it will only recognize 8 Gigs I do not want to pay for 16. Have you shipped any with 16Gigs or can you test one there to see if it will recognize 16Gigs when installed?

It does not surprise me that you received mis-info from nbr. It shocks me that intel's website is incorrect because it usually is correct. We have shipped a few g51's with 16gb. it works fine. Is it enough? I would say if you got 16gb then you are a top the computer user pyramid. Would i recomend 16gb for anyone? absolutely not. I just have a hard time believing there is a user out there that can benefit from having more then 8gb of ram. Unless you are heavy into vm software (even that does not need more then 8gb usually)

What type of work will you be doing with that 16GB of RAM and dual SSDs? I'm just curious.

I do a lot of photo editing with CS4,Capture One Pro and others. These are very large file,16 and 32 bit photos. 8 Gigs will handle most of these but I experiance run off to the scratch disc regularly when doing large panoramics and sometimes on single heavely layered files. These panos may include up to 20 250 meg TIFF files, plus layers. First SSD is OS and programs. Second SSD will be scratch disc for CS. Saved data will go to external USB, sorry to say no E-SATA. The extra ram insurance is to hold writing to the scratch disc to a minimum, extending the SSD life.

ye i guess if you need a scratch disk you probably need more then 8gb. these things are a pain in the ass to mod with cpu, thus the higher price now. If you got your order in prior to yesterday you just saved a bunch of money :)

Small request to Those who also wait for G73JH:

As I am foreign customer I have only 1 chance to buy the notebook while my friends in US (All other opportunities R real pain in ... taxes, delivery, toll taxes, insurance). Friends R leaving US on 19.03.2010, what makes 18.03.2010 last delivery date. IF I AM LUCKY the first delivery to dry dock in California CAN MAYBE happen (nobody knows ETA for sure) by the end of this week (first week of March). IF THIS HAPPENS the notebooks going to be shared among those who have pre-orded it earlier than the others. If the delivery happens, than maybe SOMEONE of YOU whose pre-order nr. is earlier than mine (1267465454) and who CAN WAIT for some time can let me pass ahead. IF NO delivery to the dry dock in California by the end of this week I'll have to cancel my order and this request for G73JH :( and maybe pick G51JX :).

G73 is now back on pre-order. Wait time is 1-2 weeks. Please call us with any questions. Our pre order list started april 21st for the g73. All orders prior to April 21st have been filled.

i think we will keep it going with a 1-2 week delay. Any time we mark them as in stock there is a flood of new custom orders and we simply cant keep up with them so they become slightly delayed anyways then some people complain. We will likely keep them as pre order until it is discontinued.
