Pure Digital, the company behind the Flip Video camcorder has added another flavor to its line of ultra-portable plug-and-play camcorder, the Mino ($180).
The Mino weighs in at 3.3 ounces and can easily slide into pants pockets. It has 2GB of internal memory capable of 60 minutes of recording, 2x digital zoom, tripod, TV connection cable for instant streaming and more. The Mino is available in black or white for $179. It records videos at a 640x480 resolution. ![]() |

I like the color choices for this camcorder but the magnification is only 2x digital zoom. This is inconvinient for filming because it is digital zoom and that will make the video blurry and shaky. Other than that, the weight and slimness is cute! :>)

seems like this is just a little toy, why wouldnt you just go and get a nice regular camera with a video function?

or.. u can just use your cell phone and don't have to carry around so much things... imagine a guy (not a girl cause they have purses) that has to carry around their keys then a phone, then their wallet then an ipod then this camcorder, that's so much to put into your pockets

I'm not sure of the resolution of cell phone cameras, but they just released a hi-definition version called the Flip MindHD at 1280x720. You can record up to 60 mins of video on it, so I guess it can be used where you actually want to take videos, as opposed to opportunistic captures for 10 seconds or so, where a cell phone might be sufficient.

I've seen videos of people on Youtube strapping these onto their helmets while out riding bicycles. It's kind of like the EEE PC of the video camera world. It's good at what it's designed to do and if you break it (as opposed to your nicer camcorder) you won't break the bank.

i heard that the kodak zi8 was better than the flip, but it does have its downfalls... On the upside it is able to connect external microphones and also comes in a waterproof version. It shoots 1080p and you can get one off amazon for around 140 if they are in stock. They were sold out while i was trying to purchase one and haven't gotten around to it since
